The new Hampton Inn, a 73-room hotel, will be Sherwood's first hotel.

Sherwood’s first hotel, a Hampton Inn, is expected to be up and running this spring.

Located off of Highway 99W at Meinecke Parkway, the hotel’s website states it’s taken reservations beginning May 10.

At 47-feet tall, the hotel is the first four-story structure in the city.

According to Hampton Inn officials, the new hotel will contain 73 rooms. Of those, seven will be king studio rooms, 27 rooms will have king beds and 39 will have double queen beds.

While May 10 is listed as an opening date, a Hampton official warned that the opening date could change.

Corey Kearsley, executive director off the Sherwood Area Chamber of Commerce, said the hotel will be a convenience for business travelers, family and friends visiting loved ones, sports tournament participants, festival attendees and those visiting wine country.

“And by staying in town, other businesses benefit as travelers eat at restaurants and shop around town,” said Kearsley. “Travel and tourism is a multi-billion dollar industry in Oregon and having a hotel will help many of our small businesses capture a bigger piece of that economic pie.”
