Hillsboro’s Orenco neighborhood feels both historic and modern at the same time. The hotel feels both old and modern, reflecting the feel of its namesake neighborhood.
“Our location attracts business and leisure travelers looking for a noncommercial, simple, ‘feels like home’ kind of place to stay,” said property manager Richard Lyons. “Our guests can walk out our front door and find an inviting, walkable, easy urban neighborhood surrounded by wonderful restaurants, parks, walking paths, and a vibrant Sunday Farmers’ Market during the summer.”
Much of the Orenco district’s rise to a commercial hub for Portland’s westside suburbs stems from the Orenco Station development, a work-live-play community built in 1999 around strategic transit lines and designed to accommodate growth around Hillsboro’s North Industrial District, which is home to multi-billion-dollar companies that span the technology sector.

Intel’s Ronler Acres campus, which the company just this year announced a $36 billion expansion project for, is just across the Butler Street greenway from Orenco Station’s northern boundary. Other large businesses a stone’s throw away include Qorvo, Genentech, and Flexential Data Centers.
All these companies and more combine to employ thousands of Hillsboro residents, many of whom live in and commute through Orenco Station. Lyons says that’s been a key part of TheOrenco’s success, as well as the overall growth of the Orenco neighborhood and its amenities.
Some of the trails and parks Lyons mentioned include Cornell Creek Park and Rosebay Park, and North Hillsboro is just a short jaunt from the Rock Creek trail network.
Lyons and his business and life partner, the hotel’s president, Margaret Waltz, grew up in Forest Grove and said this location appealed to them for a luxury boutique hotel.
“The hotel location within Orenco Station is so unique, offering guests a truly community experience,” Lyons said.
TheOrenco offers all the amenities of a modern hotel stay, including Wi-Fi and in-room coffee, as well as private courtyards in some rooms. Guests can even access some rentable equipment to partake in local recreation, like pickleball paddles and bicycles.
Lyons encouraged interested visitors to book online at TheOrenco.com to guarantee the lowest price and capture available discounts.
