Ancora Wellness will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, to mark its move to a historic site at 239 N.E. Lincoln St.
Founded in 2016, Ancora has grown from a small counseling practice into a full-service clinic offering counseling, naturopathic care, nutrition and reiki. With a vision beyond traditional health care, the practice focuses on inclusive, trauma-informed and anti-oppressive services that address all aspects of a person’s well-being.
“We’ve always dreamed of being part of downtown Hillsboro’s vibrancy,” said founder and licensed clinical social worker Kara Kazemba. “The Ancora building is now a place of healing and beauty, and I’m really proud that my business is finally home.”
Previously located in the Downtown Hive Building on Southeast Washington Street, Ancora shared space with community organizations like the Hillsboro Downtown Partnership and Hillsboro Farmers’ Markets.
“Kara and her business have been wonderful partners in downtown Hillsboro over the last eight years,” EJ Payne with the Hillsboro Downtown Partnership noted. “We’re excited to see them settle into their own building. Local ownership like this supports our goals of economic resiliency.”
The ribbon-cutting event will offer the public a chance to tour the newly renovated space, which underwent significant transformation with the help of contractor Steve Helms of SH Creations over the past year. The project was also supported by the city of Hillsboro’s Storefront Improvement Grant, helping convert the historic building into a modern wellness center.
