The intersection of Lower Bridge Way at Hwy. 97 in Terrebonne shows construction of the overpass in the background.  Lower Bridge Way will be closed here for three weeks beginning April 21, 2025.

The Lower Bridge Way/U.S. 97 intersection, on the north end of Terrebonne, is a primary example of the safety and operational concerns being experienced in the area.

It represents a key U.S. 97 access point for residents of the Crooked River Ranch in Jefferson County. Lower Bridge Way between U.S. 97 and 43rd Street is one of the highest volume roads in Deschutes County, given travel to and from the Crooked River Ranch community.

The intersection with U.S. 97 has been an ongoing concern over the years due to the high speed and volume of traffic on U.S. 97, and the attendant difficulty of making left hand turns onto or from Lower Bridge Way.

The detour on Hwy. 97 begins south of Terrebonne at NW Davidson Way and parallels Hwy. 97 via NW 19th Street north to Lower Bridge Way.

The specific detour routes are:

• To get to U.S. 97 from Lower Bridge Way, you will be detoured down NW 19th Street and turn left onto NW Davidson Way.

• To get to Lower Bridge Way from U.S. 97, you will be detoured at NW Davidson Way then turn right onto NW 19th Street.

Construction work on Hwy. 97 and on 11th Avenue through Terrebonne will continue for another year and will conclude with a modified interchange concept that utilizes a “dog bone” configuration and overpass, eliminating the need for any traffic signals.
