The new Rivian showroom at Bridgeport Village is set to open on April 4, with special events scheduled April 5 and 6.

Many who follow the automobile industry are saying that Rivian Automotive is one of the most promising new EV automakers in business today. And the company plans to open its first Oregon showroom in Bridgeport Village. 

The company offers two vehicles aimed at the heart of the American market: an SUV and a pickup truck. Rivian is based in Irvine, California, and the vehicles are built in Normal, Illinois, keeping the company free of the tariffs currently being levied against imported vehicles.

Rivian new showroom is located in the Bridgeport Village shopping center in Tualatin, just off Interstate 5 at Exit 290, Boones Ferry Road. The Rivian store will be open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The grand opening will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 5 and 6.

“We’re opening the doors to our new space next week, April 4,” said Courtney Richardson, manager of product communications for Rivian. “Rivian spaces are a place for current and potential owners to get up close with our vehicles, software and accessories, and learn more about the Rivian brand, while being designed to become a part of the local community. Our space in Portland allows Oregonians to explore Rivian’s EVs, schedule demo drives and engage with the brand in a unique, immersive setting. With such a strong owner community in Oregon already, opening a space in (the metro area) was a natural next step.”

The key facts about Rivian are that the truck and SUV are entirely electric-powered, and more than 130,000 Rivians have been sold to date. The most basic Rivian truck sells for about $73,000, offers 533 horsepower and dual-motor all-wheel drive, and has an EPA-estimated range of 258 miles on a full charge. The SUV is slightly more, starting around $75,000 for the same specifications.

On Saturday, April 5, Rivian will host a community housewarming from 10 a.m. to noon for members of the Rivian owner’s club and all Rivian owners. Then from noon to 2 p.m., the public is invited in for the same hospitality. People can pre-register at Rivian’s website.

From 2 to 4 p.m., the Rivian space will host a meetup for the local fitness community group, “Wellness Movement for All,” before the group heads to a local park for mindfulness exercises.

On Sunday, April 6, the site will host a free yoga class by Vuori from 10 to 11 a.m. on the Bridgeport Village Green.
