Starting Sunday, March 23, locals can buckle in, sit back and relax on POINT, Oregon’s intercity bus service funded and managed by the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Public Transportation Division.
The transit program is coming to North Plains through a partnership with Washington County, Ride Connection and the Tillamook County Transportation District, offering residents a new public transit option on routes to the coast and Portland’s Union Station, with several stops along the way.
“This is a great opportunity for North Plains’ residents to easily travel to the coast and save gas, avoid traffic congestion and reduce their carbon footprint,” Bill Reid, North Plains’ city manager, said in a release. “Plus it will make North Plains more familiar to other travelers who might not know about our close-knit, welcoming community.”

POINT will make two westbound and two eastbound stops each day in North Plains at the shared transit stop at Commercial Street and 314th Avenue. Parking is not available at the stop, so passengers will need to walk or arrange for drop-off.
Each 56-passenger bus is wheelchair accessible and offers amenities such as free Wi-Fi, power outlets, air conditioning, luggage and bike storage, and a restroom. The reservation-based service operates seven days a week, with the North Plains stop available only to pre-ticketed passengers.
