- Joann Fabrics and Crafts will close its Hillsboro location at 7270 N.E. Butler St., alongside around 500 locations nationwide, within the next few months.
Joann Fabrics and Crafts will be rolling up the yarn and packing away the home décor for good at its Beaverton location.

The craft store chain announced earlier in February that it will be closing around 500 locations across 49 states, including its store at 4005 S.W. 117th Ave.
After filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in less than a year in January — and just going private in April 2024 — Joann plans to shrink its footprint from 850 stores in an effort to “right-size” its operations and “maximize the value of the business,” a spokesperson said.
A total of 15 stores will close in Oregon, with the Beaverton and Hillsboro locations among those parting ways with Washington County customers.

“This was a very difficult decision to make, given the major impact we know it will have on our team members, our customers, and all of the communities we serve,” a spokesperson told the News-Times. “A careful analysis of store performance and future strategic fit for the company determined which stores should remain operating as usual at this time.”
According to a company-issued press release, executives have blamed financial struggles on recent challenges facing the retail environment, coupled with constrained inventory levels.
Store closures are anticipated over the next few months, though some may shut doors sooner or later than that, a spokesperson said.
Liquidation sales at closing stores began over the weekend, and a full list of impacted locations is available at joannrestructuring.com.
