Rivian, maker of EV trucks and SUVs, headed to Bridgeport Village

- The highly-visible electric Amazon trucks are produced by Rivian Automotive, Inc. Rivian is adding a showroom to Bridgeport Village in Tigard this spring.
Move over Tesla, Rivian Automotive, Inc. — a manufacturer of electric vehicles including trucks, SUVs and delivery vans — is headed to Bridgeport Village.

The electric vehicle manufacturer’s first Oregon showroom is expected to open this spring.
“The 3,793-square-foot, state-of-the-art space will allow Oregonians to explore Rivian’s cutting-edge electric vehicles, schedule demo drives, and engage with the brand in a unique, immersive setting,” said a statement from Bridgeport Village officials.
You might be most familiar with Rivian as being the manufacturer of those iconic electric delivery vans, also known as EDVs, that everyone now sees puttering around town.

The showroom joins a growing list of first-to-market brands introduced to Bridgeport in recent years including Vuori (athletic and activewear apparel), Kona Grill (American classic favorites and seafood) and Portland-based fine jewelry brand MiaDonna.

Headquartered in Irvine, California, the company was founded in 2009 by R.J. Scaringe.
While Tesla is generally known for the performance of its on-road vehicles, Rivian often wins kudos for its off-road vehicles among many EV enthusiasts.
Last year, Tesla moved into the renovated and remodeled Toys “R” Us store in Tigard. The former toy store filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and closed up shop at its Tigard location prior to 2020.
