For now, construction workers and parks and recreation staff are hard at work putting the finishing touches on the building.
The facility, which will open in conjunction with the reconfigured Lake Oswego Municipal Golf Course, will include competitive and recreational pools, a gymnasium, meeting and exercise rooms and more.
“We’ve been working on the project for a while. The first phase was doing non-glamorous things like underground utilities and the foundations. We’re beyond that. Now we’re at the exciting point because the inside of the building, we’re seeing finishes,” Parks and Recreation Director Ivan Anderholm said.

Anderson Pools was installing the water pumps, chlorination system and mechanical system as well as tiling of the pools and the slide. He said the filtration system for the pools includes chlorine and ultraviolet and that the filters are regenerative and designed to discard polluted water efficiently. He added that they were about three weeks out from filling the pools with water.
Meanwhile, the lobby, offices, gymnasium and workout rooms are progressing toward completion. Workers are preparing to put in the flooring soon, while things like basketball hoops, gym impact panels and the barre and soundsystem in the dance studio are already installed.
The center will be membership based and the parks and recreation department is currently accepting applications. An adult membership costs $420 annually for Lake Oswego residents and $630 for non-residents. It includes access to the fitness center, certain fitness classes, the gymnasium and swim facilities.
As for the golf course, the department needs to install additional fencing and a pathway as well as a couple finishing touches on the driving range. The city doesn’t have an exact date, but expects to open the center in early February. For more information on the project, visit www.ci.oswego.or.us/parksrec/recreation-and-aquatics-center.
