The MADE Bike Show is returning for a second year at Zidell Yards in Portland, highlighting the craft of handmade bicycles with more than 200 builders from around the globe.

Gear up for hundreds of bike builders to converge on Portland.

The 2024 MADE Bike Show is returning for a second year of bringing more than 200 builders and exhibitors from around the globe to highlight the craft of handmade bicycles.

“The purpose of MADE is extremely simple, that is to inspire and elevate the handmade cycling community and those around them,” Billy Sinkford, MADE co-founder and director of show.

MADE is “powered” by ECHOS Communications, an active and outdoors public relations firm. Sinkford said MADE started as a kind of passion project.

As a part of the community for decades, equipped with staff and connections, members of the framebuilding community asked if the firm would help out together an event dedicated to handmade bicycles.

Its inaugural event was in August 2023 at Zidell Yards, 3121 S. Moody Ave. in Portland, the venue it will return to this year but with even more to offer framebuilding fanatics.

Last year, it brought about 5,000 attendees to the bicycle bash.

Schedule:

  • Friday, Aug. 23, open to the public from 12-6 p.m., happy hour in the beer garden from 6-7 p.m. and movie night at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Aug. 24, open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., happy hour in the beer garden from 5-6 p.m. and an evening activation at Aladdin Theater by Shimano featuring the film “Anytime” by Redbull Media House and Anthill Films.
  • Sunday, Aug. 25 the venue is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Multiple drink and food options are on-site, with local options just outside of the venue.

Tickets are available online for early bird prices at made.bike. Options are available for single day or multi-day tickets.

Those interested in viewing the Friday, Aug. 23 “Radavist” movie premiere about Wendy Craig’s experiences mountain biking can purchase a ticket separate from the MADE Bike Show event online.

Kids ages 12 and under are free to enter.

“It truly is something special, and I think it will open a lot of people’s eyes when you realize that you can get a custom bike built just for you for less some of these crazy super bikes that are out on the market right now,” Sinkford said.

Builders from Australia, Japan, Spain, Europe and more will attend. Some companies will include Prova, Yakima and Shimano.

Besides some exploratory shows outside of the country, Sinkford said, “our goal is to always live in Portland.”

It’s a city with a large number of cycling companies per capita and a healthy population of cyclists, which is why MADE Bike Show plans to return to Portland annually.

Because many will cruise in on their bikes, on-site bicycle parking is available. The venue also is near bike-specific bridges and directly on the waterfront bike path.

Sinkford said, “We are looking forward to seeing all our friends in the builder community from all over and lots of high fives.”
