Cornelius insurance agency announces closure amid Forest Grove leader’s retirement

Cornelius is bidding farewell to one of its oldest insurance agencies as a Forest Grove veteran and community leader announces her retirement.

According to the owner, market conditions and industry trends influenced her decision to retire.
“I am deeply saddened to announce the closure of the agency. This decision was not made lightly, and we understand the impact it will have on our employees, clients and partners,” Murrell said in a release.

As Murrell says goodbye to the business, she emphasized the relationships she has forged with residents in both Cornelius and Forest Grove over the past years, and she plans to work closely with clients to “ensure a smooth transition.”
“I am immensely proud of the contributions we have made to our clients’ lives and the community over the years. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our employees for their hard work and dedication, to our clients for their loyalty and support, and to our partners for their collaboration,” Murrell said.
Since finishing her time in the Navy in 1986, Murrell has dedicated her life to the local community, previously serving as a Cornelius city councilor and president of the Cornelius Chamber of Commerce.
Murrell, a current Forest Grove resident, has also been an active member of the Rotary Club of Forest Grove since 2003, and she plans to dedicate her time during retirement to serve as the district governor representing Northern Oregon starting July 1.
The agency’s final day of operations will be on Friday, May 17. According to Murrell, all are welcome to celebrate her retirement during normal business hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
