Hillsboro Art Walk offers taste of community for Oregon Wine Month

With Oregon Wine Month on the horizon of Tualatin Valley’s lush hills, community partnerships are fermenting in downtown Hillsboro.

As part of the May 2024 Hillsboro Art Walk, residents can sip back and breathe in the aromas of the city’s “growing grape scene” from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7. The event features the flavors of local spaces and winemakers — highlighting the bright notes of community partnership.

In its third year of blending with Oregon Wine Month, the Art Walk gives locals — and beyond — a chance to taste Hillsboro’s craft wineries, according to Kathie Nelson, co-founder of Résolu Cellars.

“May is the perfect opportunity to welcome people to Hillsboro’s Cultural Arts District to celebrate the connections between the vineyards, winemakers, and artists,” Nelson, who organized the art walk and May Oregon Wine Month special programming, said in a media release.

Interweaving the cultural vines of wine and art, seven wineries will be placed among 20 creative venues. The exclusive collaborations aim to draw new faces to Hillsboro’s Cultural Arts District and attract audiences to discover the bounty of local offerings.

Pairings to check out include:

  • Scotch Church Road Vineyard hosted by Bag&Baggage Productions
  • Résolu Cellars hosted by Insomnia Coffee
  • La Randonnée hosted by Favi’s Fabulous Cakes
  • DAnu Wines hosted by Sparkelly Home Décor
  • Helvetia Winery hosted by Puppernickel
  • Shumaker Vineyards hosted by Catherine Bede Gallery
  • Alumbra Cellars hosted by Hillsboro Downtown Partnership/The Downtown Hive

“Supporting our community — and specifically the arts in our community — has always been important to us,” Maxine Williams, co-owner of DAnu Wines, said in a release. “By participating in the May Hillsboro Art Walk, in conjunction with Oregon’s Wine Month, we hope to help guests see that wine is a bit of art in its own way, and that each winemaker is an artist influenced by those around them.”

Wineries will sell by the glass with a $5 tasting fee — and also have bottles to go. Some tasting fees may be waived with purchase.
