Here’s what readers have to say about the Rose Quarter vision:
Reader: “Both of my grandparents’ homes were torn down. What was there can really never be replaced. It was a hardship for both but since they are both dead how will this make a difference. Maybe if it creates a hub for grandchildren of those displaced it could be a plus.”
Reader: “It reconnects the city and brings back the diversity it once had. I-5 is a tool of racism. Anything we can do to bring back connections will improve the health and wellness of the historic Albina community.”
Reader: “The old neighborhood is gone forever. The people who lived there have all found new places to live. Trying to reconstruct the old neighborhood is a lost cause. New housing will be going to people who can afford new apartments.”
Reader: “The new renderings are pretty.”
Reader: “I live nearby and I also go to Moda Center and the neighborhood and Rose Quarter feel completely disconnected.”
Reader: “Looks to be Pedestrian and biking friendly. Lots of tree canopy. Interesting architecture.”
Reader: “No tall buildings, lots of greenery.”
Reader: “Almost anything is better than what we have now.”
Reader: “It is too crowded, ugly buildings, not walking friendly.”
Reader: “I don’t understand this plan.”
Reader: “The vocabulary of the slanted rooftops is interesting but seems almost a bit out of the ‘70s. I like to see all the trees and hope that comes to pass. Covering the freeway and unifying both sides will be a good thing.”
