Mt. Hood Community College has installed electric vehicle charging stations across its campus, completing what has been envisioned since 2008 and marking a significant milestone in supporting sustainability.
“This achievement is a testament to the vision and determination of the MHCC campus community, made possible by our partners,” said Dr. Lisa Skari, president of MHCC.
Collaborating with EV Connect and their contractor, Apex Mechanical, MHCC was able to install the stations into the “Y Lot.” There are three dual-port pedestals, two wall pack chargers, new electrical infrastructure, a transformer, switchgear, circuit panel and meter.

The project got a funding jolt of $300,000 in 2021 by incorporating two electric vehicles — a Ford Mach E and Chevy Bolt — into the automotive program, allowing students to get hands-on education with those types of cars.
The project was made possible by the DEQ’s Oregon Clean Fuels program through the Portland General Electric Drive Change Fund.
