OnPoint Community Credit Union will open its doors on Oct. 27 at Crestview Crossing, marking the 57th branch opened in Oregon and southwest Washington. Officials will recognize the event with a grand opening set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 18, as well as a donation to a local nonprofit.
“Newberg is experiencing remarkable growth as the city’s population rises and new businesses open,” Rob Stuart, president and CEO, said in a release. “As Newberg continues to flourish, our new branch ensures that locals can easily manage their finances during their daily routines. We are thrilled to build our presence in Newberg and provide the community increased access to financial services.”
The Newberg branch, according to the release, will offer standard financial services to include membership enrollment, consumer and commercial lending, mortgages, financial planning, notarization and an on-site ATM. Credit union members can also access financial counseling, debt management services and financial education resources through OnPoint’s partnership with GreenPath Financial Wellness, a nonprofit that offers financial counseling services.

Leading staff at the new site will be branch manager Kevin Kelly, a veteran of the business since joining OnPoint in 2006. A branch manager for the past 14 years, Newberg represents the fifth site Kelly has opened during his tenure, including four locations in the Portland area.
“We are excited to join the Newberg community,” Kelly said in the release. “Our team looks forward to serving our new neighbors, building relationships with local nonprofits and businesses and helping the community achieve their financial goals.”
As part of the opening, the branch will donate $5,000 to Newberg Area Habitat for Humanity.
“(Habitat) is humbled by this generous $5,000 donation from OnPoint Community Credit Union as they join the Newberg community,” Shannon Selah, Habitat’s executive director, said in the release. “These funds will be put to good use as we are in the process of building three single-family homes (on College Street) and are currently purchasing two more lots in Newberg.”
OnPoint is no stranger to philanthropic efforts. In 2022, the organization’s annual giving program topped more than $2.3 million in donations to 377 nonprofits in Oregon and southwest Washington.
The credit union, founded in 1932, has branches in 28 of Oregon’s 36 counties, serves more than 522,000 members and has assets topping $8.7 billion.
