Oswego Noodle House also sells rice bowls.

Sure to warm up your system once the weather changes, a new ramen restaurant opened early this summer in Lake Oswego.

Oswego Noodle House, offering meat, vegan and gluten-free ramen options, is serving customers at 14559 Westlake Drive, Suite B.

Owner Art Chan also owns the Thai Dash to-go restaurant in Portland but wanted to open a full-on restaurant and “fell in love” with the Lake Oswego location when he visited it.

“I discovered ramen when I lived in Seattle years ago. There was a ramen place I always went to. One day I wanted to open a ramen restaurant. It just felt right. When I had a chance I just took it,” he said. “I think it’s clear that Lake Oswego doesn’t have quality Asian, especially ramen, restaurants in the area so I wanted to try it out.”

Chan said the freshness of the ingredients and quality of the broth is what separates his restaurant’s ramen. He also said that it’s less salty than many alternatives.

“We cooked the broth today and let it simmer for four hours and then sell it the next day. Everything is fresh. The noodles, the vegetables, what we offer is the freshness,” he said, adding that the ingredients blend together deliciously.

Along with ramen, the noodle house sells rice bowls such as teriyaki chicken, chashu (a Japanese pork belly dish) and Japanese fried chicken. They have Japanese and American beers on tap as well as a variety of sake — including draft sake.
