Beaverton is soon to be home to a new seafood restaurant and a $1 billion expansion to a tech company, while Cedar Hills and Hillsboro have events in February to cap off Dry January.

SEA Crab House is opening its fourth Oregon location in Beaverton, semiconductor facility Analog Devices Inc. is investing $1 billion in expansion, and beer samples will be on hand in Cedar Hills and Hillsboro this month.

Bring out the crab boil bibs

Cajun-style seafood featuring Thai-inspired sauces is headed to Beaverton with the newest location of SEA Crab House, 4105 S.W. Orbit St., Unit 101, off Southwest Tualatin Valley Highway.

The restaurant is hosting a soft open Friday, Feb. 3, and the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting for the location Feb. 9.

“I’ve had my heart set on our Beaverton location for close to two years, facing challenge after challenge. I can’t tell you how excited I am that we are finally opening this Friday,” said SEA Crab House founder Patta Lorwatcharasophon in a press release. “I can’t thank the community of Beaverton enough — especially the local chamber — who have shown us nothing but support from the beginning. We can’t wait to serve this new community of ours.”

SEA Crab House — the SEA stands for Southeast Asian — has locations in Bend, Astoria and Seaside.

Four more are headed to the Pacific Northwest in 2023, in Seattle; Portland; Bellevue, Washington; and Tacoma, Washington, according to a press release.

$1 billion expansion in Beaverton

Analog Devices Inc. — a car, industrial and consumer product chip manufacturer — is planning to upgrade is semiconductor factory in Beaverton to nearly double its capacity, according to the Bend Bulletin.

ADI started expanding its manufacturing capacity in 2021 after acquiring rival Maxim Integration Products’ facility in Beaverton.

The semiconductor manufacturer intends to convert storage space in its building near the Tektronix campus into new manufacturing space, the Bend Bulletin reported.

The new manufacturing capacities comes after Congress to pass the CHIPS Act last year, which included a $280 billion investment in domestic semiconductor manufacturing and research.

The $1 billion expansion will bring about 280 new employees on board.

Hillsbrew Fest is back

Hillsboro’s second annual Hillsbrew Fest is this month, from Feb. 24 to Feb. 26.

With 60 different beers and ciders on tap from 40 craft brewers, the Wingspan Event Center at the Washington County Fairgrounds will be flush with suds.

Admission with a keepsake mug is $10, and tasting packages are available for $30, with a mug and 10 tasting tickets for 4-ounce pours. Additional taste tickets will be sold at the event.

Tried and true classics as well as new brews will be on deck for the 21-and-over event.

The event is 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Parking is $10, and the fairgrounds is next to a MAX blue line and a bus stop.
